CNN’s Jim Acosta says he expects President Donald Trump will be the biggest name on TV and in politics this year.
The president and the Republicans are looking to “get back to their base” after the election, and Trump will “have to take a hard line” against Democrats, Acosta said on “AC360.”
“If he can’t do that, I think he will be viewed as a clown,” Acosta added.
“I think that Trump will do well this year in the polls.
But I think his popularity will be hurt because he will have to take on a tough Republican Congress.”
Trump’s approval rating has been at a historic low for months, and in January the White House admitted that Trump was suffering from a “health crisis” and a “lack of clarity.”
Trump’s approval has remained stagnant in recent months, with just 40 percent approving of his job performance.
But a new survey from Gallup found that the president is now viewed as the most unpopular president in the history of the survey.
More than a quarter of Americans are unsure if they approve or disapprove of the way Trump is handling his job as president, according to the survey released Wednesday.
The Gallup survey found that 38 percent of Americans have an unfavorable view of Trump’s job performance, compared to 39 percent who have an “approval” of his performance.
